Mr. Covington has nine years experience building high growth businesses as both an entrepreneur and an investor. He specializes in technology-enabled services businesses.

Prior to joining SSM in 2002, Mr. Covington was the founder and CEO of Firstdoor, an Internet-based information services company to corporate human resources departments. Under his leadership Firstdoor grew to a 65 person organization, negotiated strategic deals with BNA, ADP, Oracle, and Marsh & McLennan, and raised $18 million of venture capital. Firstdoor was sold to Enwisen Corporation.

Mr. Covington received his B.S. in Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Washington and Lee University and his Master's degree at Yale University, where he also served as student body president. Mr. Covington’s community involvement includes serving on the boards of Streets Ministries, Southwest Community College, and the Nature Conservancy. He previously served on the board of the AYA (Association of Yale Alumni).
